Where to start. Begin with the tightest aspects to the Sun, Moon, Ascendant and chart ruler. Do not interpret an aspect from its name alone; identify both planets and the houses they rule.

The three questions that turn an aspect into a reading
- Which two functions are these, in plain words? Not “Mars square Saturn” — “appetite and limit.”
- Which houses do they rule, and which houses are they sitting in? That is where the pair shows up.
- What has this pair asked of you before? An aspect is a long-running arrangement, not an event.
A square is not bad luck and a trine is not a guarantee. One asks for effort and gives you something for it; the other hands you something so easily you may never notice you have it.
