The count
Count the ten planets, and the Ascendant and Midheaven if your birth time is reliable. Write which bodies made up each tally — a chart with three planets in one element reads very differently depending on which three.
| Element | Count | Which bodies | Modality | Count | Which bodies |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | Cardinal | ||||
| Earth | Fixed | ||||
| Air | Mutable | ||||
| Water |
Count is only a first clue. A chart with little Earth is not “bad at reality,” and a chart
with much Water is not doomed to overwhelm. Look at planetary strength, house emphasis and lived experience
before drawing a conclusion.
Before you conclude anything from the tally
- Which of those bodies are the Sun, Moon or chart ruler? Those count for more than an outer planet making up the numbers.
- Is anything close to an angle? Angular placements speak louder than a tally.
- Does the count match how you actually live, or only how a paragraph online described it?
- What does the person say about themselves? That evidence outranks arithmetic on a chart.
